Forest Science and Paper Making / Update

Last week we have learned about Forest Science and Paper Making!  Students were introduced to the two kinds of tree families:  Coniferous and Broadleaf.  We learned about the gifts that trees give us and ways we can help the earth.  Last Friday, we were busy making paper.  Wow!  What an awesome memorable experience for the kiddos.

In math we have been working on writing teen equations.
Example. 10 + 3 = 13

In addition, we have learned to solve addition and subtraction equations. Example:  5 + 2 = 7.
                                   5 - 3 = 2

In writing we continue to work on writing stories using spaces, capital at the beginning, and punctuation at the end of the sentence. The students are making wonderful progress in writing.  I love this time of the year.  The student can write some high frequency words and sound out the words using their inventing spelling.  I will be sending home ALL their writing samples at the end of the year.

In reading, we continue to practice, practice, practice.  Learning several new high frequency words and CVC words they are beginning to sound out.  Keep up the good work reading to your child each night.

We are need of snacks!  If you have not sent any in for awhile, please consider sending in snacks.  The students love goldfish, animal crackers, pretzels, graham crackers.  Thanks in advance:)

Here are a few adorable pictures of our paper making we did on Friday.

Thanks again for all your support this year!
