Spotlight Posters/ Read-A-Thon / Book Character Day

Spotlight Posters

For the last several years we have studied a unit on FAMILIES.  I am sending home a SPOTLIGHT poster for you to work on together as a family.  Please take your time with this project.  I will be displaying them in the hallway.  I have many parents over the years comment that they still have their child's poster.  I hope you enjoy working together to make this a special project.  The posters are due on Thursday, March 9th

Read-A-Thon

Wow!!  impressive group of readers.  The final count is not out yet, but we look like we are going to make our goal.  Thanks for our continued support reading to your child.  Today we are just around 5,000 minutes!  Way to go Room 2!

Book Character Dress Up Day--Thursday, March 2nd

In honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday and Read Across America, we are holding a favorite Book Character Dress Up Day.  We hope that this day will be a huge success.  The rules are simple:
  • Outfits must be school appropriate and follow school dress code
  • No violent toys are allowed (please leave the swords and toy guns at home.
  • Masks may not be worn during school
  • Students should be able to go about their regular school activities and go outside.
  • Costumes must be based on a book
  • Have Fun!
  •
  • We had a wonderful time celebrating Valentine's Day!  The students are so sweet

  •
  • We had a fun class presentation on Dental care today from dentist Peter Raven.   The main points of the presentation are:
  • Brush teeth for 2 minutes twice daily
  • Visit your dentist regularly
  • Healthy foods keep our teeth healthy too

Valentine Day / Read-A-Thon

Our Valentine's Party will be on Tuesday, Feb. 14th from 1:30-2:00.  It will just be a simple party to celebrate the friendships the students have made in Room 2.  We will be eating jello with whip cream on top and cheese sticks and grapes.  They will be opening up their valentine cards and saying Thank you to their friends.  All parents are invited to come:)

Read-A-Thon-- We are doing AWESOME  Keep up the great work!!

BINGO NIGHT and Silent Auction is Friday, March 17th.  This is our largest fundraiser of the yer.  We are asking for your help to assemble grade level baskets for the silent auction.  We will be taking donations from now until Thursday,  February 23rd.  Please bring your new donated items to our classroom.

Kindergarten Theme for the Silent Auction Basket is MOVIE NIGHT!!!
