Lunch:   10:30
Dismissal:  12:30

Picture Day is Thursday, September 28th. I sent home information about picture day in folders yesterday.

Please keep practicing their name writing!  It takes lot of practice to develop good pencil grips and letter formation.   Thank you with your support at home with name writing.

Next week your child can bring in a sharing on their sharing day.  Please remember to put the sharing in a bag and write 3 clues on the outside of the bag, so the students can guess what’s inside.

Have your child practice counting to 10 daily.  They can use their fingers to count.

In writing we are busy collecting work samples at the beginning of the year, so we can compare the growth at the end of the year.

First Full Week

We had a wonderful week in Kindergarten!

On Monday I will send home your child's Homework folders for the first time.   I included a lot of information in their folders, so please check everyday.  I send folders home  Monday through Thursday.  I do not send homework folders home on Fridays.  Next week we will begin to work on writing their name the " school way".  Name writing can be very difficult in the beginning of the school year.  Please be patient with your child as they are learning this skill.

Sharing Schedule will be in their Homework Folders
Sharing starts next week on Monday, September 25th.  Please help your child find a sharing that begins with any letter of the alphabet.  Please have them put it in a paper sack and write three clues on the outside of the bag.  They have a great time guessing their friends sharing.  This is a great way to encourage oral language.
  • For Example:
  1. It starts with the letter R
  2. I found it on the road
  3. It is very hard.
If you guessed a ROCK you are right:)

We have been working very hard learning lots of new skills and routines

  • Classroom Rules  (ask your child about the rules)
  • writing the numbers 1 and 2
  • Counting to 20 and backwards from 10
  • ABC sign language song.  (ask your child to show you the hand signs for the letters ABC and D
  • using how to use glue
  • taking turns
  • sharing
  • Nursery Rhymes
  • Making Friends

Thanks again for all your support helping make this a wonderful kindergarten year:)

Please sign up for the Remind app.  This remind text message will inform you of upcoming news. The directions to sign up for the remind app is on our blog under the tab remind.

Welcome KIndergartners

Welcome to Kindergarten
Class of 2030!!

Kindergarten Staggered Start Schedule

Here is the staggered start schedule for the first week of school-

Half of the students will come for a full day on Wednesday, the other half on Thursday.  Parents should have received a postcard notifying you of what day your child will come.  Students will be in either Room 2 or Room 6 for the day, and will get to know all the teachers.  This day will be a fun day to learn some of the school rules, do some activities and see important places in our school. We will have recess and lunch as normal.

Parent informational meetings will be in Room 1 with one of the Ridgeview teachers.  This is a chance to fill out some paperwork and ask any questions you have.

NO students will come Friday, Sept. 8th.  Teachers will be making class lists this day.

Lists will be posted on Friday afternoon at 4:00.

Monday  September 11th will be the first day of school with classrooms all set!! Looking forward to a wonderful year.

We believe this ‘staggered start’ method will be helpful to both your child as well as our kindergarten team.  Many of our kindergarten students have never experienced school before. This is a new transition for them, especially attending for a full day. By providing teachers with smaller groups of students, this will eliminate many of the worries our youngsters may bring. In addition, this schedule will provide an opportunity for our kindergarten team to get to know all the children through small group activities as they begin to learn about school. Further, teachers will be able to observe, assess and get to know children and parents before developing class lists.

I am looking forward to a great year in Kindergarten.  I can't wait to meet the students and parents and work together to make a WONDERFUL beginning to a lifetime of learning.  See you very soon.
